چکیده

The Iterated Perturbation Theory (IPT) equations of the Dynamical Mean Field Theory (DMFT) for the half-filled Hubbard model, are solved on nearly real frequencies at various values of the Hubbard parameters, U , to investigate the nature of metal-insulator transition (MIT) at finite temperatures. This method avoids the instabilities associated with the infamous Padé analytic continuation and reveals fine structures across the MIT at finite temperatures, which can not be captured by conventional methods for solving DMFT-IPT equations on Matsubara frequencies. Our method suggests that at finite temperatures, there is an abrupt decrease in the height of the quasiparticle (Kondo) peak at a critical value of Uc, to a non-zero, but small bump, which gradually suppresses as one moves deeper into the bad insulator regime. In contrast to Vollhardt & coworkers [J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 74, 136, 2005] down to T = 0.01 of the half-bandwidth we find no T ∗ separating bad insulator from a true Mott insulator. PACS: 71.30.+h

Finite-temperature numerical renormalization group study of the Mott transition

Wilson’s numerical renormalization group method for the calculation of dynamic properties of impurity models is generalized to investigate the effective impurity model of the dynamical mean-field theory at finite temperatures. We calculate the spectral function and self-energy for the Hubbard model on a Bethe lattice with infinite coordination number directly on the real-frequency axis and inve...

Solving the Multi-site and Multi-orbital Dynamical Mean Field Theory Using Density Matrix Renormalization

We implement an efficient numerical method to calculate response functions of complex impurities based on the Density Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG) and use it as the impurity-solver of the Dynamical Mean Field Theory (DMFT). This method uses the correction vector to obtain precise Green’s functions on the real frequency axis at zero temperature. By using a self-consistent bath configurati...

Response of A Saline Solution Containing A Macromolecule To An External Electric Field

The dynamical behavior of a model for body fluids in response to an external electric field is computationally investigated for communication frequencies. The effect of an applied potential difference between two electrodes in a saline solution containing a rodlike macromolecule is studied by solving the Poisson and ion continuity equations simultaneously using the finite element method (FEM). ...

Steady-state nonequilibrium dynamical mean-field theory and the quantum Boltzmann equation

We derive the formalism for steady state nonequilibrium dynamical mean-field theory in a real-time formalism along the Kadanoff-Baym contour. The resulting equations of motion are first transformed to Wigner coordinates (average and relative time), and then re-expressed in terms of differential operators. Finally, we perform a Fourier transform with respect to the relative time, and take the fi...
